do i speak of hollywood with its tinsel blah?

One of these days I'll get my head wrapped around a diatribe on Bukowski and Fante (first I have to gather the courage for a solo effort on Bukowski), but for now ... I can't believe they actually made a movie out of Ask the Dust!

Wow. Have more than four people actually ever heard of, never mind read this book?* Okay, I exaggerate, but this might get me to a theater.

The story of how John Fante got rediscovered is pretty cool. And though they're no longer with us, I'd like to pause and thank Black Sparrow Press for beautifully designed books and terrific taste. See here and here, for a couple of quick tales.
